The Maimunah is a handmade kimono-bubu fusion dress, a meeting of two heritages: the fluid drape of the Japanese kimono and the graceful ease of the West African bubu. It moves like a robe and holds like a gown, with full kimono sleeves and a flowing marbled chiffon body that falls in an unbroken line from shoulder to hem.
